SAUGUS — Healthy Students – Healthy Saugus (HS2), a nonprofit looking to offset food insecurity in households, is searching for businesses that want to host company food drives or people looking for volunteer opportunities.
“Host a food drive and set us up for success this school year,” the nonprofit wrote. “We will be feeding students weekend meals all school year and appreciate food donations. Help us fight food insecurity in the community!”
Meals are provided every Friday to students through the nonprofit to help out over the weekend when free breakfast and lunch are not available. All students in the Saugus Public School system are eligible for the free bags with no income requirements.
“Food drives are important because it addresses both immediate needs for food insecurity and builds community solidarity, which brings people together for a common cause. Healthy Students – Healthy Saugus relies heavily on donated goods to meet demand, especially when funding is limited,” HS2 told the Item.
