LYNN — City Hall held its 12th annual school supply drive on Tuesday, Aug. 19 at the Lynn Housing Authority Neighborhood and Development’s (LHAND’s) Curwin Circle. There, Mayor Jared C. Nicholson met with Lynn students and City Hall employees to host the back to school event.
The City Hall team also partnered with staff from St. Jean’s Credit Union, including Senior Lending Officer Chris Nardone, to help contribute supplies. Ward 1 Councilor Pete Meaney also pitched in with supplies, with an emphasis on pen and paper.
“The Nicholson administration has been great about keeping this tradition alive, and I’m proud to help continue it. If I can do my small part to contribute, I’m happy to,” Meaney said.
“I don’t think you can find a person in Lynn who is against learning. Incentivizing learning should be encouraged,” he added.
The event also honored former Lynn Treasurer Ralph Cronin, who was a major supporter of providing students with tools they need to succeed in school.
“City Hall’s annual school supply drive for the youth at LHAND’s Curwin Circle is a testament to the strong partnerships and shared compassion that we have in our community,” Nicholson told The Daily Item. “We are grateful to provide key school supplies to these students as they prepare for a successful academic year.”
