LYNN — Nine new officers have officially joined the Lynn Police Department.

Sadamy Chery, Trevor Higgins, Ryan Sansone, Jonah Hodgdon, Anthony Hartgrove, Samuel Ennis, Yereline Taveras, Walkia Volquez and Vicente Fresco were all sworn in to the LPD on Aug. 19. The group was honored by LPD Chief Christopher Reddy and Mayor Jared C. Nicholson, who gave comments during the ceremony.

“I can’t tell you how pleased the Lynn Police Department is to have these nine police officers come to join us to provide safety to the community. It means so much to have officers who have made the commitment of six months of studying, working out, getting up early, getting home late, and completely disrupting their lives,” Reddy said.

“It’s because they believe in being a part of something. And we are grateful that they made that commitment that has brought them here today. We are looking forward to the work you will be providing in the upcoming months,” he added.

Reddy also expressed his gratitude to the new officers’ friends and families who were present at the ceremony.

“It’s fantastic to be a law enforcement officer in the community, but it’s critical to maintain your relationships with your family and friends. The support they provide is critical,” he said.

Nicholson then gave his congratulations to the officers’ major accomplishment.

“We are so grateful that you have made this commitment to our residents, and for the leap of faith you are taking to enter a profession of service to our community. You are entering a role where the risks are real and danger is present. But clearly you care about the safety, peace, and well being of our residents,” he said.

“We are proud to welcome nine new officers to the Lynn Police Department,” Nicholson told The Daily Item. “Their commitment to public safety and service will strengthen the team, and we wish them continued safety and success in their careers ahead.”
