NAHANT — Nahant Public Library will be hosting a virtual event Wednesday evening titled “Virtual Job Search: Ageism in the Job Search” to educate people on working through the challenges of finding employment.
The event is free of charge and will be hosted by guest-speaker Ed Lawrence, the founder of Getstart-ed, a career and life-coaching organization, according to the website. Lawrence offers practical job-search assistance, resume-writing services, and assessments to help individuals gain meaningful employment or transition to a new career.
During the virtual session, Lawrence will reveal the ageism presentation that he showed recently to a group of coaches and resume writers in Chicago. This presentation was aimed not at job seekers, but at the people whose job is to help job seekers.
Lawrence will go in-depth regarding the survey results that reveal whether or not the coaches and writers help make a difference, and will also discuss with participants the suggestions he gave to the professional audience, in order to better assist those seeking jobs.
Lawrence has a lengthy history in working to help people within the transition period of their employment. He’s also a Certified Professional Resume Writer, Certified Student Career Coach, National Certified Online Profile Expert, and is certified in Myers-Briggs, DISC, the Strong Interest Inventory, and Skillscan.
He is the official resume writer for the Framingham Public Library, where he offers both in-person help sessions on Tuesdays and online sessions on Thursdays.
