MARBLEHEAD — Marblehead High School is pleased to announce Brendan Locke as the varsity boys ice hockey head coach for the 2025-2026 season.

Locke is a seasoned coach and former collegiate athlete with experience developing and coaching youth and high school student-athletes.

Known for his strong hockey background, leadership, and commitment to player development, Locke has consistently fielded competitive teams while emphasizing character, discipline, fundamentals, and teamwork.

Locke’s coaching career spans multiple levels, including his role as an assistant coach for Marblehead High (2014-18). During his time as an assistant, the team achieved multiple
playoff appearances, including an undefeated regular season and MIAA Division 2 North Finalist finish in 2016.

As head coach of Marblehead Veterans Middle School (2013-18), Locke built a championship-winning program, securing two Viking League titles.

In his early years of coaching, Locke was involved with Marblehead Youth Hockey as well.

A former captain of Merrimack College, Locke earned Hockey East Academic All-American honors for three consecutive years and was selected in the 1991 NHL Supplemental Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers.

Locke maintains a degree from Merrimack College and holds USA Hockey level 4 coaching certification.

He has been a Marblehead resident for 27 years with his wife, Christine. They have two sons, Brendan and Christopher, both graduates of Marblehead High and varsity letter winners in hockey and golf.

“Brendan is part of the local hockey community and lives by the athletic department’s core values. His hockey coaching and playing experience is outstanding. We are pleased to have him leading our boys hockey program,” said Athletic Director Kent Wheeler.
