Peabody, meet your candidates

Amanda Lurey

September 2, 2025 by Amanda Lurey

PEABODY – The Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce Government Relations Committee is hosting a Candidates Forum on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. in the Wiggin Auditorium at Peabody City Hall.

This free, public event provides a valuable opportunity for community members to hear directly from candidates running for mayor, councilor at large and ward councilor positions.

The Chamber aims to foster greater civic engagement by bringing candidates together in an open, accessible setting and recognizes that many residents feel disconnected from local government or uncertain about how it works. Attendees will have the chance to learn about each candidate’s priorities, vision and plans for addressing Peabody’s needs.

The forum will be moderated by Chamber President Deanne Healey. Several members of the Chamber’s Government Relations Committee will pose questions to the candidates to encourage thoughtful discussion and provide clarity on key community issues.

“We understand that local government can sometimes feel confusing or distant from everyday concerns,” said Laura Meisenhelter, chair of the Government Relations Committee and representative of North Shore Community Action Programs. “This forum is designed to break down those barriers and give residents a direct line to their potential elected officials. The Chamber is committed to working with all elected leaders to improve the community, and that starts with informed, engaged voters.”

All Peabody residents are invited to attend the Chamber’s Candidates Forum. Peabody TV will also be covering the event. To submit questions for consideration, visit peabodychamber.com to find the form or visit http://business.peabodychamber.com/form/view/3766 by Sept. 7.
