Saugus man pleads guilty to drug charges

September 7, 2025 by Elizabeth Della Piana

BOSTON — Marcus Holder, 30, of Saugus, pleaded guilty to federal drug offenses involving methamphetamine laced pills.

Holder, who was known as ‘Heartless,’ pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to distribute and distribution of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Holder was a member of the Asian Boyz gang and participated in an extensive trafficking network with other members and associates.

“The gang had access to a plentiful supply of homemade methamphetamine pills marketed as the pharmaceutical product, Adderall,” according to the release.

Holder delivered 1,000 laced pills in September and October of 2022 to a fellow Asian Boyz gang member, Bill ‘Bonez’ Phim. The pills were resold to an undercover officer. Chemical testing confirmed the pills were laced with a dangerous compound of methamphetamine and caffeine.

Phim was sentenced to 10 years in prison in May 2025, which would be followed by five years of supervised release.

“U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley; Ted E. Docks, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Division; and Superintendent Gregory C. Hudon of the Lowell Police Department made the announcement. Valuable assistance was provided by the Massachusetts State Police and the Billerica, Haverhill, North Andover, and Salem Police Departments. Assistant U.S. Attorney Fred M. Wyshak, III of the Organized Crime & Gang Unit is prosecuting the case,” according to the release.

The case is part of a new program, Project Safe Neighborhoods, which is meant to bring together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce gun violence and other violent crime, and make neighborhoods safe for everyone.

The case is also a part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces operation.
