Marblehead rallied on the final hole to edge Beverly 36.5-35.5 in a tight match Monday.
Trailing by five points with two matches remaining, Bowden Laramie two-putted from 30 feet for par to win his hole and match by five points, tying the team score. Dylan Whitman then hit his second shot to five feet and made the birdie putt to win his match by one point, giving Marblehead the deciding point.
Greyson Leventhal led the way for Marblehead, winning his match 5-4 and finishing as medalist with a 35. Joy Meshulam won 5.5-3.5, and Laramie’s dominant 7-2 performance also helped seal the victory. Will Macrina tied his match.

The Rams fell to 0-2 on the year after falling to Somerville. Despite the loss, Gavin Collins, Brayden Curley, and Andrew Lang all played well.

It was a good day for the Saugus golf team as it defeated the Witches.

The Tanners fell short in Salem against the Witches. Brian Mbombap and Gui Arruda both scored a goal. With the game tied at two, Salem’s Guywintz Jules scored the game-winner with 13 minutes left in the game.
Scoring for the Tanners was Diego Lemus and Jason Decost.

Swampscott 0
Marblehead earned a rivalry win on the road. Ilan Druker set up Miles Fontella-Tuttle for an early 1-0 lead three minutes in.
Then 18 minutes into the second half Druker hit a powerful shot past the Big Blue keeper to make it 2-0.
The Magicians added a third late in the game to earn bragging rights over their rivals.

Marblehead 1
Swampscott spoiled Marblehead’s home opener with a 1-1 draw. Jane Raymond scored for the Big Blue, assisted by Maddie Mohan. Marblehead’s Liv Carlson opened the scoring 23 minutes into the first half, assisted by captain Sydney Ball. Goalkeeper Eve Byrne made 15 saves for Swampscott.
Marblehead coach Lisa Wales praised Swampscott’s effort: “Credit to Swampscott, they came to play. It was a very physical game all around.”
Both teams remain unbeaten.

The Crusaders remained undefeated with a dominant win. Piper Palazola and Camille Yanofsky each scored twice, and Reese Spurchise added a goal.
Lynn Tech 2
Cathedral 0
Lynn Tech moved to 2-2 with a shutout win at home. The Tigers had 32 shots on target. Eighth grader Emelyn Garcia and sophomore captain Emily Zacarias each scored a goal, with Garcia taking seven shots and Zacarias eight.
The defense, led by Katherine Castanon and Gilary Cifuentes, limited Cathedral to two shots on target.

Saugus 1
The Spartans improved to 3-0 on the season after an impressive showing against the Sachems on the road. Sophie Skabeikis, fresh off of a hat trick on Saturday, scored another three goals to fuel St. Mary’s. Andrea Basta added two goals, while Cameryn Dunn and Olivia DiSessa each scored once.
Shalyn Sewell scored Saugus’ only goal in the second half off of an assist from Georgia Condakes.
Despite the scoreline, Saugus head coach April Martinez praised her senior goalkeeper Peyton DiBiasio for coming up with some “amazing saves.”

The Crusaders couldn’t get the road victory against a tough Malden Catholic team. Bailey Chalmers and Natalie Bono both “played well on defense” according to head coach Marybeth Mahoney.
Sarah Bannister and Ginny Cahill both split time in net and each made five saves.
The Crusaders will look to bounce back on Tuesday against Arlington Catholic.

It was another strong showing in net by goalkeeper Tabby Lopes as she recorded her fourth straight shutout to start the season. The Spartans are 3-0-1 after the draw.
VOLLEYBALL
Lynnfield 3
Pentucket 1
The Pioneers protected home court against Pentucket. Lynnfield’s Audrey Manning had 11 kills, 20 assists and nine aces, while teammate Alexia Vaquerano led the way with 14 kills and 12 digs.
Olivia Kelter finished the game making key plays and finished with seven kills, three aces, and 14 digs. Sophomores Carina DeLeo (19 assists, 4 aces, 8 digs) and Milana Labkovich (7 kills, 4 blocks) performed well for Lynnfield.
Elliana Moretti played “unbelievably strong” according to head coach Brent Ashley.
