Lynn Classical’s girls soccer team, once again helmed by coach Jessica Gambale, took care of business in Tuesday’s Greater Boston League opener. The Lady Rams defeated Revere, 2-1, in enemy territory.
Brenda Guevara Reyes and Tatiana De Leon tucked Classical’s goals, while Aileen Garcia dished out an assist and Aliyah Alvarado stopped 13 shots.
The Lady Rams, whose only loss came at the hands of St. Mary’s in the city tournament, return to Manning Field Thursday against Medford at 7:30 p.m.

It wasn’t easy, as Lynnfield didn’t score its final goal until the 78th minute. Ava Damiani struck first in this one, followed by Kaylee Barrett and Giada Antidormi, who also delivered an assist.
Hannah Doherty also played a “great game in the midfield and settled the ball down,” according to Lynnfield coach Mark Vermont.
“Essex Tech had a good gameplan – they played a defensive game,” said Vermont, whose Pioneers improved to 2-1 ahead of Thursday’s date with Georgetown. “It was a close game all the way until the end. Our girls kept battling and moving the ball around.”

Better yet, five Eagles found the back of the net: James Minor, Ryan King, Noah Lear, Breccan Curran, and JJ Koulalis. Owen Beeney and Garrison Murphy each had two assists, while Matt Droggitis (6 saves) stayed hot with his third consecutive shutout.

Bella McCormack (assist), Sarah Bannister (save), and Mia Millett all contributed for the Crusaders, who visit Bishop Feehan Thursday in a matchup of conference foes.

Peabody dropped a home game against Marblehead, but not without positives. Sophia Kassis (21 saves) played well between the pipes, while Eva Briggs and Bella Kassis added two saves apiece. Kelsey Kennison scored Peabody’s first goal of the season, with an assist coming from Morgan White.
“We played people in many different positions and are very proud of our progress as a unit,” said Peabody coach Jillian Tobin.

The Lady Rams (3-1, 1-0 GBL) took down Medford in set scores of 25-12, 25-19, and 25-23. Top contributors were Brooke Braswell (13 kills, 4 aces, 11 digs), Azriella Jorge (18 digs, 2 aces, 2 assists, 2.75/3.0 serve receive), and Emma Chevalier (13 assists, 2 aces, 10 digs).
“We got contributions all over the floor from everyone,” said Classical coach Chris LeBlanc, whose team captured the city championship last Friday. “We can’t relax with Everett coming into the gym tomorrow (Wednesday) night. They always play us extremely well and we’re going to have to bring our best to come out with a win.”

The Tigers took care of business in set scores of 25-9, 25-5, and 25-16. Zahara Belizaire had 12 assists, 10 aces, five digs, and a pair of kills. Also contributing for Tech were Lia Morales (9 aces, 3 digs, 2 kills, 2 assists), Mahlyna Williams (4 digs), Niya Bingham (4 kills), Joslyn Wise (3 kills), and Genesis Baez (3 kills).
“All-around great team win,” said Tech coach Kaitlyn Wechsler, whose team upped its record to 3-1.

Lizzy Bettencourt led the charge with 20 kills, and the Tanners took down Masconomet in four sets. Yorna Demiri helped the cause with 15 assists.

Marblehead (2-1) worked its magic with a goose-egg win against Ipswich. Set scores were 25-4, 25-8, and 25-17. Lila Moniz (7 kills) and Greta Sachs (6) led the Magicians’ offense, while setter Sydney DaSilva and Eva Burke tallied nine assists apiece. Defensively, Sydney Faris had 12 digs and added four aces.
