SAUGUS – The Cultural Council is on the hunt for volunteers as they look to fill spots for their Cultural Festival Subcommittee.
The Council is looking for residents to help plan and organize the 2026 festival, which will be their second one. Their first festival, which was in 2025, was a success as they managed to fill the school with fun events and tables for people to enjoy.
This year is going to be a little bit different, though. The plan is to work with the Saugus 4-1-1 Committee, a group that plans the Saugus 4-1-1 event, which is meant to welcome new residents and also create a gathering space for current residents to see what the town has to offer. The Council and Committee will discuss community and information tables for groups and local businesses/nonprofits.
By joining the Subcommittee, volunteers would “coordinate diverse entertainers, food vendors, and misc(ellaneous) activities.” They’d also “support in social media, print, and other digital marketing” and “support in crowdsourcing for grants and festival sponsors.”
The Subcommittee would also have monthly meetings and share progress with the Cultural Council during public meetings.
The Council wrote the following statement:
“The Cultural Festival subcommittee will focus on organizing the second annual Saugus Cultural Festival to offer a fresh opportunity for community members to get involved. We recognize that many residents would love to get involved with the community but may not have the time to commit to a full term on our Cultural Council or other town committees. This subcommittee provides a more flexible way to participate — and a fun one, too!
“Our intention is to bring new voices and perspectives into the planning process for an event that celebrates the diverse cultural fabric of Saugus. If you’re passionate about community, culture, and connection, we’d love to have you join us. Please reach out to [email protected] for more information or join us for our first meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. at the Saugus Public Library.”
