Lynnfield announces new scarecrow contest

Amanda Lurey

September 17, 2025 by Amanda Lurey

LYNNFIELD – Lynnfield Recreation and A Healthy Lynnfield are inviting residents, families, businesses, and community organizations to take part in a brand-new seasonal tradition: the Lynnfield Scarecrow Contest.

The two organizations are encouraging participants to create their own unique scarecrows and display them in a location easily visible from the street. Each registration will be added to the official Scarecrow Map, allowing residents to tour the town and enjoy the creativity on display.

“This is a fun way to bring the community together, showcase creativity, and celebrate the season,” said Jimmy Olsen, Lynnfield Recreation Director. “We can’t wait to see what people come up with.”

Registration is open from Sept. 22 through Oct. 15, and there is a $20 entry fee. The official Scarecrow Map will be released Oct. 21. There will be online voting through Nov. 5 at 9 a.m., and the top three winners will each receive a gift certificate. Winners will be announced Nov. 10.

“A Healthy Lynnfield is excited to partner with Lynnfield Recreation on this new community offering,” said Diana DeLeo, program coordinator of A Healthy Lynnfield. “We know that participating in activities together as a family and as a community are both protective factors for preventing future youth substance use and better mental health outcomes. Plus, it’s so much fun! We can’t wait to have our families and community groups participate.”
