ROUNDUP: Lynn English golf tops Lynn Classical

Lynn English got the better of its rival Thursday afternoon, defeating Lynn Classical 43-29 at Gannon Municipal Golf Course.

Lynn English’s Riley Driscoll won his match 9-0 in the No. 1 slot and shot even par on the back nine. Jacoby Comeau added a 5-4 win in the No. 2 slot, while AJ Lopez won 6-3 in the No. 3 slot.

Leading the way for Lynn Classical was Brayden Ohannesian, who “played well,” according to head coach Jack Morrison.

GOLF

Danvers 40.5

Swampscott 31.5

Swampscott fell short against Danvers. Leading the Big Blue was Tyler Ostroff, who shot a 37, while teammate Luke McGonagle carded a 38. Swampscott faces Peabody next.

Marblehead 58.5

Salem 13.5

Marblehead improved its Northeastern Conference record to 8-1-1 and 8-2-1 overall. Colby Moore shot 1-under par to earn medalist honors for the Magicians. Greyson Leventhal finished with a 35 and Tyler Forbes added a 36.

BOYS SOCCER

Minuteman 6

KIPP 1

KIPP couldn’t find a way past a strong Minuteman side. Despite the loss, senior forward Jossue Giron Lopez has been a bright spot for the Panthers, scoring six goals in four games.

“People need to watch out for him this season,” head coach Josh Canales said.

St. John’s Prep 3

Xaverian 0

St. John’s Prep defended home turf against rival Xaverian.

Midfielder Mike Hutchinson scored twice, while defender James Minor added a goal on a free kick that found the top corner.

JJ Koulalis and Garrison Murphy registered assists as the Eagles improved to 5-0-2 overall and 3-0-1 in the Catholic Conference.

GIRLS SOCCER

Lynnfield 5

North Reading 0

Ava Damiani powered the Pioneers with four goals. Giada Antidormi added a goal and an assist.

“Our defense and goalkeeper played a tremendous game,” Lynnfield head coach Mark Vermont said. “I’m very proud of the girls for how hard they worked.”

FIELD HOCKEY

St. Mary’s 10

Arlington Catholic 0

The Spartans (6-0-1) fired on all cylinders, scoring double digits against Arlington Catholic. Ava Korisianos and Camdyn Driscoll each netted hat tricks.

Danvers 6

Peabody 1

Captain Chris Troncoso played multiple positions and scored Peabody’s lone goal. Freshman Amaya Francher recorded her first defensive save, while captain Sophia Kassis made 17 saves in net.

Kyla Moroney led Danvers with three goals.

Saugus 9

Northeast Metro 0

The Sachems earned their second win of the season in dominant fashion. Saugus will look to win its third game on Friday when it travels to Masconomet for a 4:30 p.m. game.

Bishop Stang 2

Bishop Fenwick 1

Bishop Fenwick fell in a close one. Sophie Cooke scored the Crusaders’ lone goal.

VOLLEYBALL

Lynn Tech 3

Chelsea 0

The Tigers swept Chelsea to improve to 5-2. Lynn Tech visits Innovation on Monday at 6 p.m.
