Both the Lynn Classical and Somerville volleyball teams were undefeated in the Greater Boston League heading into Wednesday evening’s match. But in set scores of 25-14, 25-20, and 26-24, the Lady Rams (9-2, 6-0 GBL) had the last laugh.
Leading Classical were Brooke Braswell (13 kills, 3 blocks, 8 digs), Emma Chevalier (23 assists, 3 kills, 5 digs), and Karen Diaz Cruz (5 kills, 6 aces, 8 digs).
“Tonight was a huge win for our girls. With both of us going into this match undefeated in-conference, we were going to learn a lot about ourselves either way in this match,” said Classical coach Chris LeBlanc. “Our captains really led us tonight. Brooke and Emma were great from start to finish. They were really effective together and allowed each other to be successful. It was nice to see some major contributions from some newcomers as well. Karen was great in her first varsity start and Sejla Iriskic served us out in the third set when we fell behind, 21-24.”
