LYNN — The Lynn Housing Authority & Neighborhood Development (LHAND) hosted its 27th annual Scholarship Golf Tournament at Gannon Golf Course Sept. 12. The event was coordinated by Kassandra Lopez, John Ladd, Cathy Rowe, and Jason Newhall. The major sponsors were Jim Connors of McGrath Construction, Obtek Services, EDIC/Lynn, and Eastern Bank.

“Scholarships like these play a vital role in supporting our students on their paths to higher education, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to stand behind them as they pursue their academic and personal ambitions,” said Mayor Jared C. Nicholson. “We wish the recipients every success and want them to know that the entire City of Lynn – and especially the team at LHAND – is cheering them on.”

In addition to its commitment to providing affordable, quality housing, LHAND is dedicated to helping Lynn’s youth invest in their educational futures. Over the years, LHAND has built strong partnerships with guidance counselors across all Lynn high schools. These relationships have been key to supporting countless students in their academic endeavors.

The LHAND Scholarship Golf Tournament is a cornerstone of this effort, made possible through generous contributions from staff members, families, local businesses, and nonprofit organizations. Among the most dedicated supporters is Connors, who has consistently championed the LHAND Scholarship Fund.

“Supporting this cause means a great deal to all of us at LHAND,” said Executive Director Charles Gaeta. “We understand how rising education costs can create barriers for many young people in our city, which is why we remain committed to awarding scholarships to help ease that burden.”

LHAND will recognize and support a new group of scholarship recipients next spring. These awards not only celebrate students’ hard work and determination but also provide essential resources as they pursue higher education. By empowering local youth, LHAND continues to invest in a stronger, brighter future for the entire Lynn community.
