Friday’s Lynn All-City cross country meet was a success in Lynn Woods. St. Mary’s boys and girls teams escaped victorious, with the Lynn Tech-KIPP co-op finishing second.

Lynn English’s Ian De La Rosa (19:34 – 6:09 pace) and St. Mary’s Nina Lopes (23:46 – 7:29 pace) were first-place finishers.

Behind Rosa were St. Mary’s Kevin Cahill (20:17), St. Mary’s Cristian Rodriguez (20:38), Tech’s Christian Nunez (21:03), and Tech’s Xavier Ortiz (21:03).

Lopes was followed by Lynn Classical’s DeLeon Pinz Mariann (23:57), English’s Maddy McHale (25:15), Tech’s Wilmarlyn Fernandez (25:22), and St. Mary’s Mia Tatis (25:22).

FOOTBALL

Lynnfield 34
Ipswich 14

Lynnfield (1-2) entered the win column with a 20-point victory against the Tigers (1-2). Do-it-all Luke DiSilvio (7 receptions, 140 yards) caught two touchdown passes and rushed for another score. Matt Tracy (15-for-18, 260 yards, 2 TDs, INT) and Xander Janicki (6 tackles) also played well for the Pioneers.

Marblehead 48
North Andover 0

Talk about heading into a bye week in style. Marblehead defended Piper Field and upped its record to 4-0. Finn Gallup, Tim Wales, Rylan Golden, Owen Coyne, Vidal Clark, Breydan Callahan, and Armany Villar scored touchdowns to complete a versatile offensive showing.

Melrose 20
Swampscott 6

Swampscott (2-2) ran into trouble in enemy territory, but not without a strong performance from offensive tackle and defensive end Vaughn Hazell, who “played extremely well” and was “all over the field,” according to Swampscott coach Peter Bush.

KIPP 18
Greater Lowell Tech 13

After a 6-6 halftime score, KIPP (1-3) secured its first win of the season. Aavian Pena (14 carries, 132 yards rushing) of the Panthers did a little bit of everything, scoring a 97-yard punt-return touchdown, rushing for a 4-yard touchdown, and throwing a touchdown pass to Ryan Reynoso.

Gloucester 34
Bishop Fenwick 33

Fenwick fought hard after trailing, 34-14, after three quarters. The Crusaders nearly pulled off a miraculous comeback, but the Fishermen held on. Gloucester (4-0) has now defeated St. Mary’s and Fenwick across back-to-back Fridays.

BOYS SOCCER

Winthrop 3
Peabody 0

Despite strong performances from Thad Broughton, Jayden Lopez, Marshal Simpson, and goalie Sam Wardle, Peabody’s struggles continued with a loss against Winthrop.

Swampscott 0
Danvers 0

Danvers dominated possession and had its chances offensively, but Swampscott defended deep and prevented any movement on the scoreboard.

GIRLS SOCCER

Peabody 5
Winthrop 0

Courtesy of first varsity goals from McKenzie Miller, Brielle Broughton, Ayanna Cirame (assist), and Sophia Galbiati (3 assists), the Tanners conquered the Vikings. Cara Corriveau also tucked one, while netminder Olivia Ball stood strong with a shutout.

FIELD HOCKEY

Masconomet 9
Marblehead 1

Marblehead received its goal from Chloe Rowland during the first quarter, while Elizabeth Hayes and Molly Beauchesne combined to make 21 saves.

“Sometimes, the scoreboard doesn’t tell the full story and today’s game was one of those games,” said Marblehead coach Ali Carey. “Our team played some of the best field hockey of our season so far, and every member of our team was in it until the last second. Our mental-skills game was strong and spirits were high. Building a strong, supportive team culture is a priority for our program. I’m incredibly proud of our team’s sportsmanship, respect for the game, and dedication to each other.”

VOLLEYBALL

Marblehead 3
Woburn 1

In set scores of 25-11, 21-25, 25-18, and 25-11, Marblehead (7-2) was guided by Lila Moniz (18 kills), Greta Sachs (16 kills, 4 blocks), Eva Burke (53 assists, 6 aces), and Sydney Faris (12 digs), who delivered “a great night serve receiving,” according to Marblehead coach Killeen Miller.
