LYNN –– The City of Lynn, partnering with Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, has installed a new Mamava lactation pod to meet the needs of breastfeeding parents.
“We are proud to be a leader in taking a progressive stance to improve lactation support,” said Mayor Jared C. Nicholson. “This pod will provide a comfortable and secure place for all parents to nourish their children, reinforcing our commitment to building a more inclusive and
supportive community.”
The Mamava lactation pod is located on the fourth floor of City Hall, near Room 407. To access the pod, residents must download the Mamava app. It is available to the public and City Hall employees during regular business hours.
Mamava aims to transform the culture of breastfeeding by making it easier for more parents to pump or nurse at work and on the go. Mamava lactation pods are freestanding spaces intentionally designed with easy-to-clean surfaces and conveniently placed outlets to provide a comfortable and private option to breastfeed or pump.
“As an advocate for City employees, I’m grateful for the opportunity to work in partnership Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare to bring this Mamava pod to City Hall,” said Dawn Kwiatek, internal auditor for the City of Lynn. “This space will serve not only the public but also our staff, ensuring that employees have a private, comfortable place to pump or nurse at work. This is an important step toward fostering equity and well-being in the workplace.”
This initiative, funded by dedicated wellness and innovation credits received during health benefits renewal negotiations with Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, underscores the City’s dedication to creating a supportive and accessible environment for all employees and residents
visiting City Hall. The private lactation space was identified in collaboration with Gallagher Benefit Services as a meaningful investment that aligns with the City’s strategic goals around equity, wellness, and accessibility.
