The Saugus girls soccer team won its second straight game with a 6-1 home victory over Winthrop on Monday.

Sydney Deleidi and Shalyn Sewell each had two goals and an assist for Saugus. Shawn Sewell added a goal, and Lucia Giron scored her first varsity goal.

Goalkeeper Lauren Mudafort came up with a highlight save, which coach April Martinez called “textbook,” closing down the angle on a Vikings breakaway.

Martinez also praised Amanda Rezendes, who had two assists, and junior captain Maria Garcia.

“Rezendes is patient, controls the ball and stops the attack,” Martinez said. “Maria continues to manage the defensive line while playing a solid game.”

Angela Coscia scored Winthrop’s lone goal.

“The bigger the game, the better Lucy plays,” Marblehead coach Lisa Wales said. “Her compete level is top notch, she reads the game incredibly well and she controls much of the midfield for us.”
