You know what I’ve been thinking? For those having conversations about the best football players in Lynn – Massachusetts even – Lynn English’s Shane Knowlton-Simard is right in the mix.
The dual-threat quarterback did it again in English’s 54-32 win against Peabody last Friday. His performance was needed, too, as it was a two-point game during the third quarter.
Knowlton-Simard (6-2, 180 pounds) was 8-for-13 with 182 yards passing and a touchdown. On the ground, he rushed 11 times for 139 yards and five touchdowns.
Yes. Six total scores.
“Shane is getting better every week at quarterback and the Peabody game showed that,” said second-year English coach Tyllor McDonald. “He really put it together, running the ball and throwing the ball. When he can do that, it makes our offense very dangerous. It makes a defense need to account for his athleticism, but it also helps the guys around him when he distributes the ball effectively. We’re excited to see him continue to grow throughout the season.”
With Knowlton-Simard becoming more and more comfortable under center, the Bulldogs (1-2) look to climb to .500 Friday. They host Revere with kickoff slated for 7:30 at Manning Field.
Shane, good week.
