It’s been quite the week for St. Mary’s athletics program. The volleyball team defeated traditional archrival Bishop Fenwick for the first time in 18 years; cross country standout Kelsey Kwiatek placed second (126 runners) in the Bay State Invitational; both cross country teams were Lynn All-City Meet champions; and Sophie Skabeikis became the girls soccer program’s all-time leading scorer (103 goals).

Thursday, the show went on.

The field hockey team won the Catholic Central League title for the first time in the program’s seven-year existence. Coach Victoria Ault and her Spartans (11-0-1) defeated Bishop Feehan, 2-0, in Attleborough behind two goals from Alyssa Norden and a shutout from Tabby Lopes.

It was a one-goal game at halftime between conference foes.
