SAUGUS — The Saugus United Food Pantry, a collaborative between the churches in town, is reaching out for donations as Thanksgiving gets closer. The pantry will be providing meal boxes for families to ensure they have Thanksgiving meals.
“Give thanks by helping us to support our neighbors and strengthen our communities,” the pantry wrote.
To give to the boxes, community members can donate by Friday, Nov. 7. The items needed for a box are: jarred or canned gravy, cranberry sauce, canned veggies, boxed stuffing mix, boxed mashed potatoes, boxed mac and cheese, cornbread mix, and dessert mix. The boxes will also include turkey.
To help sort, pack, and distribute the boxes, there are volunteer opportunities on Friday, Nov. 21 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 22 from 8:30 a.m.-noon. To sign up to volunteer, email [email protected].
For those who need a box, register in-person by Friday, Nov. 7. Dates to register are Fridays, Oct. 24, Oct. 31, and Nov. 7 from 9:30-11 a.m. People can also register on Wednesday, Oct. 29 from 6-7 p.m.
