Records were out the window between the Marblehead and Peabody football teams Friday night. The Tanners (0-6) gave the Magicians (6-0) a good fight at Coley Lee Field, but Marblehead turned it up late en route to a 35-14 victory.
Marblehead’s Finn Gallup collected three total touchdowns, Brayden Callahan caught two for scores, and receiver Madden Lyons made a big difference in the passing game. As for Peabody – which had the game tied, 14-14, in the second half – Cory Dooley and Mark Mendonca found the promised land.

Lynn Tech 24
Monomoy 0
Monomoy totaled just four first downs as Lynn Tech (4-1) pounced on its Cape Cod opposition. The Tigers were led by Eddie Lewis (2 catches, 75 yards, 2 receiving TDs), Anthony Brown (8 carries, 91 yards, TD), and Jadiel Ortega (3-for-3, 75 yards passing, 2 TDs, INT return TD).
“It was good to spread the ball around, but the big star was Eddie Lewis. The catches Eddie made were pretty incredible,” said Tech coach James Runner, who celebrated his birthday week in style. “Four guys ran the ball who carried more than five times.”
St. John’s Prep 53
Saint John’s Shrewsbury 19
Maxwell Parent got things started with a 40-yard rushing touchdown and it was a breeze from there for St. John’s Prep, which scored all of its points through three quarters. Another highlight came through a trick play, with Parent tossing a touchdown pass to Anthony Sanderson to put the Eagles ahead, 16-0, in the opening quarter.
Newburyport 29
Lynnfield 19
Lynnfield (1-5) couldn’t defend Pioneer Stadium against its Cape Ann League foe. Joe Rosa impressed with a 30-yard pick-six for the Pioneers, while Lynnfield’s Chase Buoniconti compiled two rushing touchdowns.
Gloucester 33
Saugus 8
The Fishermen (6-1) continued their stellar run with a 25-point home win against the Sachems (1-5). Saugus returns home next Friday with kickoff slated for 6:30 p.m. against Swampscott
Bishop Feehan 35
Bishop Fenwick 30
Fenwick held a 6-0 lead after one quarter and trailed by just one point (7-6) at halftime, but couldn’t slow down the Shamrocks’ offense in the second half. The Crusaders drove downfield and had a chance late, but Feehan’s Kaden Baltazar hauled in a big-time interception to seal the win. Fenwick dipped to 2-4 after last week’s 49-point win against Cardinal Spellman.
GIRLS SOCCER
Masconomet 4
Swampscott 0
Swampscott’s Eve Byrne made 14 saves, but the Big Blue were blanked in enemy territory.
FIELD HOCKEY
Masconomet 2
Marblehead 0
Goaltender Elizabeth Hayes played well for the Magicians and made six key saves. Despite being shut out, a September matchup between Masconomet and Marblehead ended with a 9-1 win for the Chieftains.
“So, to say I am pleased with our performance would be an understatement. Masco is a powerhouse in the NEC (Northeastern Conference) and today, our job was to challenge when we could on offense, but to focus on our defensive game,” said Marblehead coach Ali Carey. “Nobody beats Emma Ryan’s hustle and Zoe Dwyer was absolutely everywhere we needed her to be, making smart passes and helping to keep the pressure on. Sadie Beane and Addie Rotigliano left it all on the field – those two are committed and play hard. Our midline was also key for us today; Keliane Salem, Julia Mann, Carolyn Black, and Shea Bickell are smart, sharp players.”
Beverly 7
Peabody 0
Despite strong performances from Peabody’s Karley O’Connor, Sophia Kassis (13 saves), and Chris Troncoso (2 defensive saves), the Tanners met their match against the Panthers.
“Captain Elizabeth Moore had a key defensive save in the first (quarter),” said Peabody coach Jillian Tobin. “Amayah Francher pulled two huge defensive saves in the first and fourth.”
VOLLEYBALL
Lynn Classical 3
Hamilton-Wenham 0
The host Lady Rams upped their record to 16-2 with a three-set (25-17, 25-14, 25-22) win. Leading the charge were Brooke Braswell (16 kills, 7 digs, 2 blocks, ace), Emma Chevalier (25 assists, 2 aces, 3 kills, block, 4 digs), and Stacia Wonoski (7 digs, ace).
“I wasn’t sure how we would come out tonight after clinching the GBL (Greater Boston League) title earlier in the week, but the girls came out strong and played arguably one of their best matches of the year,” said Classical coach Chris LeBlanc. “Everyone on the floor was a plus tonight. Our captains, Brooke and Emma, really led us tonight – both were excellent in all phases. We felt like if we could get out on them, they don’t play well from behind, and we were able to keep them off-balance and pushing from behind all night. [It was] just an outstanding team win.”
