The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has announced the reopening of the Belden G. Bly Bridge, which carries Route 107 over the Saugus River and connects to Lynn.
The bridge reopened at noon on Friday. It was closed following a field inspection that revealed cracking on bridge deck panel assemblies, according to MassDOT.
“We are pleased that the Fox Hill temporary drawbridge has reopened ahead of the schedule previously announced by MassDOT. We understand the traffic hardship this caused in West Lynn, and my office was in communication with MassDOT throughout the closure, expressing the frustration felt by those impacted and urging them to expedite repairs. We greatly appreciate the extensive work of the Lynn Police Department to mitigate an extremely challenging situation,” Mayor Jared C. Nicholson said.
