There was a lot to celebrate at Marblehead on Monday evening. Not only did the Magicians volleyball team improve to 14-2 after defeating Notre Dame Hingham 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-23), but setter Eva Burke recorded her 1,000th career assist, becoming Marblehead’s all-time leader. Burke finished with 33 assists against Notre Dame.

Greta Sachs led the offense with 11 kills, four aces, and two blocks, while Sammy Walker added nine kills, four digs, and three blocks. Sydney Faris recorded 15 digs to boost Marblehead.

“This was a huge win and the start to a huge week for us,” Rams coach Chris LeBlanc said. “Somerville has a lot of talent, and they always play us tough. Our girls just wanted it a little bit more tonight. We know that if we want a home game in the state tournament, we need to take care of business this week, and this was a good start.”
