LYNN — At approximately 9 a.m. Friday morning, a 2-alarm fire broke out at 10 Hood St. in Lynn.
Six people were displaced from their home, and one was taken to Salem Hospital with minor burn injuries to the face. Three people were home at the time, according to Fire Chief Dan Sullivan.
The department’s safety officer first spotted smoke during his morning rounds and was the first to arrive on scene. He immediately reported the fire, prompting a rapid response from crews.
“When the crews got here, the whole back of the building was going,” Sullivan said. “They were able to take some lines, knock it down, and contain it to the rear of the structure.”
Firefighters worked quickly to prevent the blaze from spreading to neighboring homes. A boat in the backyard also caught fire, generating intense heat that began to threaten a nearby residence. Crews managed to get water on that house in time, preventing further damage.
“There were no firefighter injuries, which is a testament to the physical fitness and training of our personnel,” he said.
Investigators are still determining the cause of the fire.
