LTTE: Support for Nicole McClain

To The Editor

October 24, 2025 by To The Editor

To the editor and citizens of Lynn:

It is my pleasure to write this letter endorsing Nicole McClain for reelection to the Lynn City Council. It is a pleasure because, as an educator, nothing can give you more pleasure than to see how successful one of your former students has become.

During her tenure as a city councilor, Nicole has taken an active role in meeting with representatives of Lynn’s vibrant and committed community organizations. It is their hard work that directly impacts the quality of life for many of Lynn’s citizens. Through these engaged discussions, Nicole has assembled first-hand knowledge and information to support her problem-solving and decision-making approach to leadership.

*Concerning affordable housing, Nicole has been an outspoken proponent of the need to improve affordable housing in Lynn and has actively supported tenants who have faced eviction and worked with landlords to seek alternative solutions.

*With regards to public safety, Nicole supports identifying and addressing safety issues through an open dialogue between citizens and law enforcement to create a culture of understanding and trust. One such initiative is the now-operational CALM Team.

*Nicole acknowledges the importance of offering our senior citizens programs that improve their quality of life. In doing so, she endorses the need for additional funding of vital services to meet their nutritional and health needs as well as experiences that provide social and mental health activities.

*Also, Nicole is a strong proponent of ensuring that every child in the Lynn Public School system receives an equitable education and; therefore, voted to support LPS by opposing charter school expansion in Lynn. Nicole’s commitment extends beyond the regular school day; hence, her support for organizations and initiatives that provide enriching after school programs and services.

*As a veteran, Nicole brings her hands-on military experiences and her membership in the Disabled American Veterans organization to identify and address veterans’ needs. As a result of her efforts, a list of the small businesses who provide discounted or free products/services to veterans has been created.

Nicole understands that being a productive member of the city council requires working closely and collaboratively with the mayor and other councilors. She is committed to a mindset that addresses economic growth as well as the transportation needs of a diverse and inclusive growing population. Nicole is always cognizant of the potential impact growth can have at the

neighborhood level with regards to improving our schools, providing safe roads, and essential services like police and fire, along with the everyday needs of our citizens.

Nicole has clearly demonstrated her passion, intelligence, and integrity, and I am confident she will continue to address the myriad of important issues that our city faces and will provide the leadership necessary to make us all proud to live in Lynn. Therefore, it is my honor to endorse Nicole McClain for one of the at-large City Council positions.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey A. Barile, Ed.D.

Former principal, Washington Community Magnet School, Lynn
