Saugus getting ready to honor its veterans

Elizabeth Della Piana

November 2, 2025 by Elizabeth Della Piana

SAUGUS — With Veterans Day nearing, the town is preparing for multiple events to honor those who served the United States.

First up is a Veterans Day tribute and luncheon for the Senior Center.

The tribute will take place on Nov. 10, starting at 11 a.m., and will feature a pot pie luncheon from Harrows Chicken Pies. Capt. Stephen Castinetti, U.S. Navy (retired) and commander of the Saugus Veterans Council, will be the master of ceremonies and special guest.

The event will also include the patriotic songs sung by the center’s Sing-a-Long Group led by pianist Tony Sarno. The program will immediately be followed by a dessert table sponsored by Andrew Firman from Benefits Advisors Group.

A ticket for the event is $6, and you will need to sign up in advance.

The Daughters of the American Revolution Parson Roby Chapter is also preparing for Veterans Day. Every year, the chapter is tasked with decorating the Town Hall lawn to create a Field of Flags to honor veterans.

On Nov. 11, before the Town’s service begins, Guy Moley’s car show team will host a Rolling Rally, which will meet at the Senior Center at 10 a.m. The cars will slowly roll out of the parking lot and onto Central Street, driving past the Veterans Memorial and parting at Town Hall.

Immediately following this, the Town will have its annual ceremony at 11 a.m. at Veterans Park at 1 Central St., bringing together veterans, Town officials, community members, and local organizations to pay tribute to those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

There will be remarks from community leaders, a wreath-laying ceremony, and a moment of silence for those who gave their lives while serving their country.
