FIELD HOCKEY
No. 10 Lynnfield 2
No. 7 Hanover 0
Rankings didn’t tell the entire story in this Division 3 matchup. Lynnfield (16-1-3) blanked Hanover (14-4) and punched its ticket to the Elite 8 against No. 2 Sandwich (TBD).
After coming out “a little flat,” according to Lynnfield coach Kerri Doherty, Pioneer goalkeeper Bridget McGee (9 saves) saved a stroke to provide momentum. Izzy Fiorentino scored the first goal of the game, while Sophia Morgese (from Lauren Mattia) tucked the second.
“The fourth quarter was a little scary at times,” said Doherty, who credited Hayden Valiton, Nola Maney, Chloe Bergeron, and Addie Wolf for strong games. “It was a really great day for this team. They wanted it more and we went there on a focused mission, knowing it was going to be a battle – and it was.”
Lynnfield advanced to the Elite 8 for the second consecutive season.

No. 13 Watertown 3
No. 20 St. Mary’s 0
In the Division 3 Round of 32, St. Mary’s trailed just 1-0 at halftime, but couldn’t contain Watertown’s (10-2-7) offense in the second half. With coach Dan Garcia steering the ship, St. Mary’s won four of its last five games during the regular season and checked out with an overall record of 9-6-2.
