Race after race across Massachusetts this past Saturday, local cross country programs were well-represented with strong individual and team finishes.
John McIntosh (6th – 15:59.00) led St. John’s Prep (3rd) in the Division 1-A state races at Wrentham Developmental Center.
The boys and girls teams from Peabody finished 12th in Division 1-B. Mohamed Lhassouani led the boys with an 18th-place finish of 16:30.90, while the girls were led by Ella Braz (19th – 20:14) and Lauren Foley (20th – 20:16). Also running well was freshman Lily Murphy, who clocked in at 64th with a time of 21:41.
Ian De La Rosa (95th – 17:58.40) submitted a solid time for Lynn English.
Henrik Adams (8th – 17:18.55) and Will Cruikshank (12th – 17:24.59) guided Marblehead in the Division 2-A races at the Northfield Mountain Recreation Center. On the girls’ side, Sarah Munroe (7th -20:18.10) and Marrietta O’Connell (8th – 20:22.52) secured back-to-back finishes.
Brandon Sok (67th – 19:28.85) led the Lynn Classical boys, while Mariana De Leon Pinzon (70th – 23:33.56) paced the Lady Rams.
In the Division 2-C races, St. Mary’s girls finished seventh and qualified for the state finals for the first time in school history. Kelsey Kwiatek led the way with a seventh-place time of 20:49.09, followed by Nina Lopes (32nd – 23:07.42). The boys finished 14th and wrapped up another strong season behind Cristian Rodriguez’s 33rd-place finish (18:38.26).
Swampscott’s Annabelle Averett secured fifth place in 20:42.22, while Simon Brown led the Big Blue boys with a 16th-place finish.
Bishop Fenwick was well-represented by Adelaide Sweatman (6th – 20:42.93), Marianna Kay (11th – 21:09.28), and Deven Dion (58th – 19:39.09).
Kason Imbrogna was the lone runner for Saugus, placing 142nd in 22:57.71.
In Division 3-A action, the Lynnfield girls (8th) were led by Abby Lopez, who secured 22nd with a time of 21:37. Also performing well was Maeve Wertz (48th – 23:40). The Pioneer boys (14th) were paced by Nick Degennaro (64th – 19:21.53), Rowan Bayer (66th – 19:22.79), and Jason Tran (19:24.40).
Wilmarlin Fernandez (71st – 24:42.60) and Emerson Ramirez (77th – 19:36.94) led Lynn Tech.
