CAMBRIDGE — The Lesley University athletics department inducted its 2025 Hall of Fame class, which featured a little bit of Lynn. Kaitlyn Wechsler, who coaches girls basketball as well as boys and girls volleyball at Lynn Tech, was inducted.
Wechsler was a two-sport standout athlete for the volleyball and basketball programs, as well as a star in the classroom, earning several Academic All-Conference honors during her time in Cambridge.
Recruited for hoops, she put together a Hall of Fame career, graduating as the program’s all-time leading scorer with 1,471 points and a .478 career shooting percentage, adding 486 rebounds, 160 steals, 151 assists, and 28 blocks.
She was named an All-Conference selection all four seasons and was the first player in program history to be invited to the New England Women’s Basketball Association Senior All-Star Game in 2011.
In addition to stuffing the stat sheet, she helped the program post back-to-back NECC titles in 2009 and 2010 with consecutive 17-win seasons (still the single-season program record).
Wechsler joined the women’s volleyball team as a sophomore and was a mainstay in its lineup, playing in 77 career matches and recording 445 kills, 295 digs, and 126 blocks across her three seasons.
She made an immediate impact and helped the Lynx capture the 2008 conference championship. She ended her volleyball career on a high note with another conference title in 2010, making her a two-sport, two-time conference champ with the Lynx.
Wechsler studied education and is now a highly-respected teacher at Julia F. Callahan School in Lynn.
Lesley Athletic Director Dan Campagna had nothing but high praise for the event and this year’s class.
“The Lesley athletic department was elated to combine this year’s Hall of Fame event with Lesley’s Fall Weekend and I loved having the opportunity to connect with the inductees and their families before and after the ceremony,” Campagna said. “We had a great turnout, the energy in the room was palpable, and some of our current student-athletes got to be a part of the night, which made it even more special. It’s quickly becoming one of my favorite Lesley traditions and I think it will continue to get even better each year.”
