LYNN — The Lynn Housing Authority & Neighborhood Development partnered with the United Way of Massachusetts Bay to provide Thanksgiving meals to 1,100 Lynn families.
This year marks LHAND’s 17th year participating in The Gratitude Project: an initiative started by the United Way 26 years ago.
More than 40 volunteers, members of the state delegation, City Council, and Lynn Youth Street Outreach Advocacy, along with LHAND and United Way staff, helped distribute 1,100 meal bags on Saturday at LHAND’s offices on Church Street.
“We are truly fortunate to have the United Way actively involved in our community, along with the dedicated LHAND staff supporting this project,” said Charles J. Gaeta, LHAND executive director.
Each family of three or more people received a reusable grocery bag filled with rice, corn, black beans, onions, and boxes of stuffing, cornbread, and brownie mix. Families also received a $20 gift card to purchase a turkey.
