SAUGUS — The Cultural Council met Tuesday night to continue its discussion on the first-ever Saugus Community Festival: Culture & 411, a gathering that will combine its Cultural Festival with the Saugus 411 Committee’s yearly event.
The Council currently has waivers out for food vendors, performers, and sponsorships.
The Council is looking for cultural cuisine, street food, baked goods, and more to be served at the event. Those interested in being a vendor can sign up online.
Requirements for vendors include a Certificate of Insurance naming the Town of Saugus as the certificate holder, a one-day permit from the Board of Health, and a $100 security deposit fee (to be returned if none of the school food equipment or kitchen areas are damaged). Vendors are responsible for cleaning up their stations after the festival.
According to the guidelines set by the Council, menu items must cost between $1 to $16. It is also noted that since there is no fee put out to the vendors, at least one free sample must be offered.
Vendors are responsible for providing disposable serving items like plates, containers, utensils, napkins, and condiments. There will be free parking and food storage on the day of the event.
For the entertainment department, the Council is seeking dancers, musicians, poets, storytellers, and cultural displays of a wide variety.
Those looking to perform can sign up online.
Performers must also provide a Certificate of Insurance naming the Town of Saugus as the certificate holder.
The guidelines set by the Council state that the performance must represent the unique characteristics of the ethnic group.
Performers are not allowed to solicit contributions from the audience during the festival.
Parking will be provided along with storage and a changing room for the event. Performance durations can range from 5 minutes to 1 hour.
