Mother hopes Santa blesses kids with smiles

Zach Laird

December 10, 2025 by Zach Laird

With the hustle and bustle of Christmastime already putting a weight on the shoulders of so many parents, having to worry about providing for your family is the last thing anybody needs added to their plate.

One mother of four wrote to Item Santa, sharing that — despite the hardships life has thrown her way — her dedication to giving her children an amazing Christmas morning has never wavered.

After years of effort and preparation, she recently got into a nursing program. She works tirelessly to provide for her family and asks for a little extra dash of magic this year when it comes time for Santa to make his rounds.

“Though I am so excited, I am also torn for the welfare of my children this year. As I try to make ends meet, it is still a struggle, even with a full-time job, it’s still a struggle,” she said. “I ask of you, dear Santa, to bless my three young children with toys and smiles. I know there are a lot of children and families that are in your need. I ask of you to also give a small token to mine.”

Now in its 59th year, the Item Santa Fund helps bring Christmas joy to local residents in need. The Item collects donations while The Salvation Army purchases and distributes toys and essentials to approved families in the area.

To give, please clip the coupon in The Daily Item and send it with your check to:
