Struggling child wants a simple Christmas gift

Jackie Manno

December 21, 2025 by Jackie Manno

A polite, respectful child doesn’t want much for Christmas this year — any gift would make them happy.

A young one wrote to Item Santa asking for Christmas gifts while their mother is struggling financially.

They started off their letter by thoughtfully greeting Santa.

“Hello Santa, I send you warm greetings and hope you are well,” they wrote.

They know they will not be on the naughty list this year, as they have been on the best behavior with their family.

“I have behaved well with my family, and I would like to receive a gift,” they continued.

Their request is humble. They’re not looking for anything lavish, rather something simple to lift their spirits this holiday season.

“I would like to receive any kind of gift because I just want to be happy since my mom doesn’t have much money. May God bless you, thank you,” they concluded.

A contribution to Item Santa can help ensure this child— and many others like them — have something to anticipate this holiday season. Every donation counts when it comes to making a meaningful impact at a time where so many families are struggling to make ends meet.

Now in its 59th year, the Item Santa Fund helps bring Christmas joy to local residents in need. The Item collects donations while The Salvation Army purchases and distributes toys and essentials to approved families in the area.

To give, please clip the coupon in The Daily Item and send it with your check to:
