LYNNFIELD — The Lynnfield Public Library is hosting a pet food drive until the end of January. All donations will be given to Great Dog Rescue New England and Protection of Animals in Wakefield Society, Inc.
Head of Reference Pat Kelly said they’re mostly interested in unopened dry and wet food for both dogs and cats.
“We know this is a tough time for everybody, for humans and for pets. We’ve done food drives and drives for local aid organizations, so we felt that this would really fit in with what we’re trying to do, helping the furry kids out there, too,” Kelly said.
She added that this is the first time the library has collaborated with Great Dog Rescue New England and PAWS.
“These are two really great organizations that do a lot of work locally,” she said.
All donations can be dropped off on a table next to the check-out desk. Kelly asked that all who would like to donate do so only during the Library’s operating hours so the donations are not left outside for long periods of time.
“We don’t want people leaving stuff outside when we’re closed. With the weather spikes up and down, we don’t want the food subject to any adverse effects like freezing and thawing,” she said.
If you have any questions, call the library at 781-334-5411 and ask to speak with Kelly.
