MARBLEHEAD — This Saturday, the Marblehead-Swampscott co-op wrestling team hosts its first super-quad in program history with five teams coming to Marblehead High at 10 a.m.

The Black and Blue will wrestle against North Attleborough, Silver Lake, Plymouth South, and Bridgewater-Raynham.

“Beverly will also be attending and we will be able to get as many exhibition matches in as possible with all teams,” said head coach Michael Stamison. “Very excited to host this.”

Marblehead-Swampscott took part in last Saturday’s Pentucket Holiday Tournament. The Black and Blue — short-handed with just nine of 14 weight classes covered — finished 16th of 21 teams.

Colin Hart (5th) went 4-1 with four wins via pinfall, while Liam O’Brien (4th) cruised through his first two rounds (18-0 technical fall and pinfall) before grappling a tough opponent from Roxbury Latin.

“Then, in the third-place match, there was a bit of controversy with the table, leading to an unfortunate 5-3 loss as time expired,” Stamison said. “We must learn from these setbacks and leave no doubt in future matches against these tough opponents.”

Freshman Nolan Glass (2-2) put together “his best tournament yet,” according to Stamison, while Andrew Delisle went 1-2 with a pin and freshman Ryker Genest secured his first varsity win.

“Seventh graders Elliot Donato and Ollie Dion both got more experience, as did first-year sophomore Phil Duclos and senior Xavier Tejeda,” Stamison said. “The more mat time, the better.”
