NAHANT — Residents are invited to attend Nahant Village Church’s next community breakfast on Jan. 9, which will feature State Sen. Brendan Crighton and Rep. Sean Reid.
The two will be speaking to residents about various topics related to the town and the broader North Shore communities. They will then open the floor for Q&A to address any audience concerns.
Reid explained that the event has become an annual tradition.
“State Senator Brendan Crighton and my predecessors have been doing this for a number of years. We did it last year also… Typically, what we do is cover a lot of topics that are relevant for the time, or things that seem to be on Nahanters minds, whether that’s environmental issues, housing, affordability, or everything else in between,” Reid said.
He continued that they’ll also discuss the work they’re currently doing at the State House to address those issues. He said he’s looking forward to answering questions to hear specific concerns people may have.
“In the past, one of the things people were interested in was coastal resiliency, and the plans that the state has rolled out over the last couple of years,” he said. “We hope a lot of people show up. It’s always a great and informative time where we get tons of questions. I’m really looking forward to it.”
Those in attendance will also have the opportunity to meet the church’s new minister, Rev. Emily Kellar. She will be hosting events in January and February, providing community members with the chance to connect and learn more about her.
Crighton shared his thoughts on the upcoming event.
“I’ve been doing this since I was elected as state representative, and the tradition continues now with Rep. Sean Reid in his new role… We’re coming back to give an update on the work we’re doing, but also to have a two-way conversation with residents,” Crighton said. “One of the most important parts of our job is communicating with community members.”
