Lynn up to 1,205 COVID-19 cases, 29 deaths

By Gayla Cawley | April 23, 2020

Another Lynn resident has died from the coronavirus, which brings the city’s death toll to 29, according to data provided by the City of Lynn on Wednesday.

The city’s confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 1,205 on Wednesday, with 32 new cases reported by the Lynn Public Health Department.

Although the data shows a continued increase in COVID-19 cases in the city, there was only a 2.7 percent increase on Wednesday, which is down from the 4.8 percent spike in new cases that was reported on Tuesday.

However, the day-to-day increases have so far been inconsistent. Precipitous drops in cases on certain days have been followed by large spikes on others.

Elsewhere, the state’s Department of Public Health is reporting that as of Wednesday, there have been 56 COVID-19 cases in Lynnfield, 65 in Marblehead, 28 in Nahant, 380 in Peabody, 194 in Saugus, and 77 in Swampscott. The City of Revere is reporting 805 positive cases.

According to the most recent data released by those municipalities, there have been 37 deaths in Peabody, 30 in Revere, nine in Lynnfield and three in Nahant. The towns of Marblehead, Saugus and Swampscott have not released information on fatalities in their communities.
