DOUBLE-DIGIT SURGE OF CORONAVIRUS CASES REPORTED IN LYNN AND REVERE

Lynn and Revere reported a double-digit surge in new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, and new cases were also reported in Lynnfield and Saugus.

In Lynn, 13 new cases were reported to bring the city’s caseload to 4,776. Of that total, 578 cases are active, 117 people have died and 4,081 have recovered from the virus, according to city data.

Revere reported 26 new cases on Tuesday, which is about the same as the city’s daily average of 26.5 new cases over the past seven days.

In Revere, 2,581 people have been infected and 99 have died, according to the city website.

Nineteen new cases have been reported in Saugus since last Wednesday to bring the town’s caseload to 685. Forty-one people have died.

Lynnfield reported an additional case to bring the town’s total numbers to 131 cases and 11 deaths.

Numbers remained the same in Nahant (52 cases, six deaths) and were not updated in Marblehead, Peabody or Swampscott.

As of Monday, Marblehead had 266 cases and 30 deaths and Peabody had 1,259 cases and 182 deaths. Swampscott (262 cases, 11 deaths) has not released updated numbers since last Wednesday.
