LYNN — The Healey-Driscoll Administration and the Massachusetts Life Science Center have announced $300,000 in grants through the Out-of-School Time Grant Program, which invests in life science education and training for Massachusetts students.
LynnLab has received $31,488 in funding to support its mission of making science accessible for all students. LynnLab is a community-based biology lab that offers hands-on programming at events throughout the city. It hosts many of these events at local schools, science centers, and libraries.
“A critical way to support community out-of-school programming opportunities is to provide financial resources to these organizations so they can continue to do great work,” said Sen. Brendan Crighton. “Thanks to the Healey-Driscoll Administration and the Massachusetts Life Science Center for supporting the next generation of scientists and researchers to help them reach their full potential.”
Rep. Dan Cahill said, “LynnLab is doing incredible work to inspire young people in our community. By investing in programs like this, the Healey-Driscoll Administration and the Massachusetts Life Science Center are ensuring that every student has the opportunity to explore science, develop new skills, and envision a future in the life sciences right here in Massachusetts.”
Rep. Jenny Armini said, “Igniting the imaginations of young people often happens outside the classroom. This grant will make that possible for Lynn students.”
Rep. Sean Reid said, “LynnLab is helping make science real and exciting for young people in our community. Thank you to the Administration and the MLSC for recognizing the urgent need to spark more interest and careers in the sciences, and for investing in organizations that make this happen.”
Mayor Jared C. Nicholson said, “LynnLab is a great community partner that is centering accessible, inclusive life science education to our youth. We appreciate the Healey-Driscoll Administration’s continuous support of expanding these opportunities to our younger generation and are excited to continue this critical work with them to build a strong pipeline for the future of STEM in Lynn.”
