LYNN — The Executive Office of Economic Development has awarded the North Shore Community College Foundation: Lynn Business ESOL Coalition $100,000 through the Community Workforce Partnerships Grant Program. This program supports local economic priorities through small business employee skills development, literacy and language skills, and job training skills.

With this grant award, the North Shore Community College Foundation will be able to implement several programs to expand their offerings of ESOL training in conjunction with job skills training. These programs include The ESOL Academy, an on-campus instruction program ideal for workers at small to mid-sized companies, The Workplace ESOL Model, which provides customized ESOL worker trainings, and The Instructor Pipeline, which will aid in the hiring of new TESOL instructors to reach these program goals.

“The Community Workforce Partnerships Grant Programs are vital for providing local projects the necessary funding to have positive impacts in their communities, and I am thrilled to see North Shore Community College Foundation receive funding to support their ESOL programs,” said Sen. Brendan Crighton. “By providing NSCC Foundation the funding to expand their ESOL program options, they are able to give greater opportunities and flexibility to workforce members seeking to participate in these programs.”

Rep. Dan Cahill said, “Investing in workforce development through accessible, community-driven programs like those offered by the North Shore Community College Foundation is a direct investment in the economic strength of our region. This funding will not only expand ESOL access but also ensure that more workers in Lynn and across the North Shore have the skills needed to succeed in today’s economy.”

Rep. Jenny Armini said, “Language access is essential to building an inclusive and resilient workforce. This funding will help more residents gain the skills and confidence they need to advance in their careers while strengthening our local economy. I’m grateful to North Shore Community College Foundation for their leadership in this important work.”

Rep. Sean Reid said, “NSCC has long been a cornerstone of opportunity in our region, and this support will help even more residents gain the skills they need to thrive in today’s workforce. Thank you to the Administration and EOED for recognizing the value of these programs and investing in their continued success.”
