No. 32 Minnechaug 2
No. 33 Marblehead 0
After regulation, two 10-minute overtime periods, and a shootout, Wednesday’s Division 2 preliminary game ended with Minnechaug (2-14-3) celebrating on its home field. Marblehead (7-8-4) had its chances, but couldn’t find the back of the net.
“This was without a doubt our best game this season and the most exciting field hockey game I’ve seen in quite some time. Keliane Salem, Kate Andriano, and Meggie Grenier played every minute of the game, including the two overtime periods,” said Marblehead coach Ali Carey. “Avery Wysor and Paige Waldman came out briefly for minor injuries, but otherwise played the full game, including overtime minutes. It never feels great to see your season come to an end, but we can confidently say that Marblehead gave everything we had and our spirits are high as we head back to town.”
