Two struggling high school football teams collided in South Hamilton for Cape Ann League action Friday night. In the end, Lynnfield (2-6) made it a happy Halloween with a 35-14 victory against Hamilton-Wenham (1-7).
Despite the Generals scoring both of their touchdowns in the fourth quarter, they weren’t enough to mount a comeback against the Pioneers, who built a 28-0 cushion after three.
A highlight of the game was when Lynnfield’s Lucas Deraps recovered a fumble and raced 45 yards to the house.

Lynn Tech vs. Nashoba Valley Tech
Friday night’s game between visiting Lynn Tech (4-2) and host Nashoba Valley Tech (5-2) was cut short during the second quarter as the field lights went out. Nashoba led the Tigers, 16-0, but Lynn Tech held possession with a short field before the game ended. The action continues Saturday at 2 p.m.

Marblehead 7
Host Marblehead (6-2) fell short against Danvers (6-2) in a meeting of Division 4 contenders. As of Friday’s MIAA power rankings, the Magicians ranked fifth, while the Falcons checked in at No. 12.
Marblehead’s Breydan Callahan scored a rushing touchdown to tie the game during the first quarter. Danvers held a 14-7 lead after three quarters before scoring again in the fourth.

In Division 5 state tournament action, KIPP reached the end of the road against fourth-ranked Lenox Memorial (19-1) in the Round of 32. The Panthers bowed out with a 12-10 overall record, which included Thursday’s postseason win against No. 36 University Park Campus.
