December 23, 2025 by Joey Barrett

You could say Saturday’s boys basketball game between Lynn Classical and St. Mary’s doesn’t need much promotion — and that it sells itself.

The Rams (3-0) defeated Everett 75-62 Tuesday, while the Spartans (4-0) took care of Springfield Central 94-64.

After road wins, the Lynn foes square off Saturday at Lynn English with tip-off slated for 11 a.m.

Do-it-all Shy Babb led Classical with 23 points and 18 rebounds against Everett, while Darren Baker netted 17 points. Also contributing were DJ Reynolds (15 points) and Davon Rucker (11).

St. Mary’s was led by the duo of Jake Fortier (24 points) and John Chareas (23) against Springfield Central.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

St. Mary’s 56
Acton-Boxborough 50

Make it three games, three wins for St. Mary’s, which escaped Acton-Boxborough inside of the Tony C. Gymnasium. Gabi Lorenzini and McKenna O’Connell each recorded 16 points.

Marblehead 41
Shawsheen Valley Tech 28

The Magicians upped their record to 4-1 with a double-digit home win. After a season-opening loss in Danvers, Marblehead has put together a four-game winning streak against Beverly, Saugus, Revere, and Shawsheen.

WRESTLING

Lynn 39
Malden-Everett 34

Lynn’s co-op wrestling team, featuring grapplers from Lynn Classical, Lynn English, Lynn Tech, and St. Mary’s, won its first match in team history. The squad is coached by Dan Koziski and has approximately 40 wrestlers on its roster.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

St. Mary’s 82
Arlington Catholic 16

The Spartans (2-0) were victorious again as Matt Nowak (2-mile), Nick Fusco (mile), Josiah Madden (high jump), and Devin Duval (long jump) were first-place finishers at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston.
