The Lynnfield girls and Swampscott boys were victorious in their respective basketball tournaments, which concluded Tuesday.

The Pioneers (4-2) defeated Winthrop 61-23 to capture the David Green Memorial Tournament. Behind Chloe Grieves (12 points, 12 rebounds), all-tournament player Olivia Braley (12 points), and Most Valuable Player Hayden Valiton (9 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists), Lynnfield erupted with 26 third-quarter points.

“Everyone contributed to today’s victory. We had balanced scoring with two players in double figures and had nine out of 11 players score,” said Lynnfield coach Sue Breen. “More importantly, we had 23 assists on 26 made baskets. They really shared the ball well. The team is making great progress in coming together and gaining confidence. We are looking forward to 2026.”

The Swampscott boys (5-0) kept their perfect season intact and claimed the Big Blue Holiday Tournament with a 60-48 win against Hamilton-Wenham.

Most Valuable Player Teddy O’Neill poured in 31 points, followed by all-tournament players Connor Chiarello (19) and Chase Groothuis (7 points, 12 rebounds). Also contributing was Sam Moscoso, who collected 13 rebounds and played strong defense, according to coach Jason Knowles.

Despite late-game heroics from Peabody’s Marc Mendonca — who drilled a triple with two seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime — the Tanners (1-5) were edged on home hardwood. Mendonca (26 points, 5 assists), Thad Broughton (18 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists), and Ian Salazar (13 points, 7 rebounds) played strong games.

In the consolation game of the Waltham Christmas Tournament, Peabody fell despite strong performances from Aliana Ryan (10 points), Olivia Gaynor (7), and Sophia Coburn (6). Also playing well, according to coach Stan McKeen, was Lizzie Bettencourt, who chipped in four points and six rebounds.
