The Marblehead and Bishop Fenwick girls hockey teams fought to a 1-1 draw at Rockett Arena in Salem Wednesday afternoon. Fenwick’s Bella Marcinkowski broke the ice with a go-ahead strike before Brooke Griffin answered for the Lady Headers.
The teams meet again Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 8:40 p.m. on Fenwick’s home ice at the Essex Sports Center in Middleton.
Marblehead (2-4-1) travels to face Peabody-Lynnfield-North Reading this Saturday at 4 p.m. Fenwick (2-1-1) hosts Archbishop Williams the same evening at 6:40 p.m.

St. Mary’s (4-0) remained perfect with a two-goal win on the road. Vicky Swim netted her first varsity goal, while Alyssa Norden tucked a pair and Megan Donato was solid between the pipes.

Everything was clicking for the Jets (2-3), who ripped seven goals and dominated at Connery Rink in Lynn. Aaron Cook netted his first varsity hat trick, while John Doyle, Brian Boisson, Tyler Whitten, and Jacoby Comeau also found the back of the net. Kyle Furlong (3 assists) and Marc Poste (2) facilitated the puck well and Nicholas DeNino made 10 saves.

Lynnfield (2-2-2) settled for a draw against the Fishermen at James McVann-Louis O’Keefe Rink. Anthony Calla ripped a goal for the Pioneers with assists coming from Nick Kelter and Lucas Deraps. Angelo Covino stood strong with 22 saves.

Viccee Howard was the home-court hero for KIPP, scoring a fadeaway buzzer-beater to end regulation — much to the crowd’s delight. Better yet, he scored a game-high 30 points as the Panthers upped their record to 3-1 behind coach Moody Bey.

With a 35-point second half, St. Mary’s ended the year in style and upped its record to 6-0. Leading a versatile offense were Gabi Lorenzini (14 points), Sysy Emmanuel (13), McKenna O’Connell (11), and Janae Holmes (10). Lina Owumi made an impact defensively.
