Students from Lynn Classical, Lynn English, Lynn Tech, St. Mary’s, and KIPP gathered at Lynn City Hall on Tuesday to take part in Student Government Day.
Two or three students from each school were elected city councilors to rule on a debate of whether students should be allowed to have cell phones in schools. The remaining students broke off into teams to come up with their arguments.
Students were assisted by City Councilors Brian Field, Obed Matul, Jordan Avery, Natasha Megie-Maddrey, Cardeliz Paez, and Council President Coco Alinsug.
At the conclusion of the debate, St. Mary’s was named the winner.
