PEABODY – Emergency crews responded to an electrical fire at 5 Cunha Road, in Peabody around 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Emergency dispatchers received a call from a woman in the house who simply screamed, “I need fire!” and hung up the phone. As crews arrived they found smoke billowing from the back of the house, but no visible flames.A ladder truck was used to bring firefighters onto the roof of the two-story home, as they cut out sections of the roof to control the fire.Firefighters said the cause of the fire was electrical, and most likely started in the garage or back porch.At least two people were home at the time, but no serious injuries were reported. Neighbors said there were never any flames at the home, but the smoke was heavy at times.Family members declined comment but were visibly shaken as EMT crews checked them out at the scene.The house did sustain some damage, but the exact condition of the home was unknown after the incident.Family members and police officers could be seen entering and exiting the home without any protective gear immediately after the fire.
