We really executed that part of our game plan.”After a sluggish first quarter, the Big Blue built up a 31-15 lead at halftime behind Craig Rodenstein (23 points) and John Beaulieu (18 points). The Warriors made a slight comeback in the third quarter, but Rodenstein promptly stomped out the effort by reeling off 11 straight points for his team.Martin Hyppolite led Wakefield with 15 points.CONSOLATIONGoffstown (NH) 61, Peabody 53The Tanners (1-5) struggled through another tough game on the offensive side of the ball, losing to Goffstown 61-53 in the boys’ consolation game.The Tanners committed 21 turnovers, many of them unforced. After the game, coach Chris Mastrangelo said his team needed to work on taking better care of the ball.”The number of turnovers was unbelievable,” Mastrangelo said. “But the number of unforced turnovers, without an pressure on us, really killed us.”Peabody fought back to pull within 56-53 behind the play of Kevin Skop (16 points) and Marc Linehan (10 points). Ultimately, though, Gofftown sealed the win at the foul line.Alex Stoyle had 12 points and 13 rebounds for Goffstown.The all-tournament team featured Peabody’s Kevin Skop; Goffstown’s Jeff Thomas; Wakefield’s Nick Serino and John Amentola; and Swampscott’s Craig Rodenstein and John Beaulieu. Beaulieu earned tournament MVP honors.GIRLSPeabody 55, Fenwick 52Coming off its first loss of the season, Peabody (5-1) got back on track by squeaking out a 55-52 win over cross-town rival Bishop Fenwick (1-4) in the girls’ consolation game.Peabody coach Jane Heil said she was happy to see her team respond so well to Thursday’s loss to Winnacunnet.”I’m incredibly pleased with the way we bounced back,” Heil said.”To learn from our mistakes without a practice (between games) shows we’ve come a long way.”A three-point attempt by Fenwick’s Bridget Dullea fell short at the buzzer to seal the win for Peabody.Tawny Palmeri led the Tanners with 14 points, while Lindsey Consoles had a big game with 10 points and 17 rebounds. Fenwick was paced by Dullea, who scored 19.Winnacunnet (NH) 53,Melrose 52Winnacunnet won the girls’ championship behind 19 points from Tiffany Ruffin. Hannah Brickley led Melrose with 22 points.The girls all-tournament team consisted of Peabody’s Tawny Palmeri; Bishop Fenwick’s Bridget Dullea; Melrose’s Hannah Brickley and Meghan Kirwan; and Winnacunnet’s Tiffany Ruffin and Conley Burns. Ruffin was named tournament MVP.
