PEABODY – The New England Patriots and the New York Giants have a lot at stake for Sunday’s big game. One could make NFL history as the only team to win with an impeccable record. The other could make history as the underdogs who stole the show. But, they’re not the only ones feeling the pressure.Erickson Communities, the developer of Brooksby Village, organized a rather friendly competition of their own for the Super Bowl. They pinned Brooksby and Linden Ponds, located in Hingham, against the New Jersey Communities of Cedar Crest and Seabrook in what will surely be a tasty wager. If the Patriots win on Sunday, members of the resident advisory council at Brooksby and Linden Ponds will receive a New York strip steak dinner, complete with New York cheesecake, courtesy of their opponents. If by chance the Giants win, the two New Jersey communities will receive a traditional lobster dinner, with, of course, New England clam chowder.”Each community will be watching the game on their big screens,” said Executive Director Jim Windgardner. “Once the game’s over, the losing team will make a phone call and congratulate the winner.”Windgardner said that arrangements will be made soon afterwards for the food items to be shipped. This year’s game is particularly troublesome for football follower Windgardner.”I actually grew up in New Jersey, so I have very mixed emotions,” he said. “I grew up a Giants fan, but became a Pats fan when I moved out here.”In fact, Windgardner has been a Patriots season ticket holder since 1992. He’s confident that his New England team will pull through.Brooksby’s Resident Advisory Council President Dick Thornburg is sure that the Patriots will take home ring number four on Sunday.”There’s not much that’s certain in these days, but of one thing I’m sure, the Patriots are going all the way, 19-0,” he said. “We can already taste the steak.”Seabrook’s Resident Advisory Council President Jack Cunningham begs to differ.”I think the Giants will win this game and give the whole New Jersey and New York area something to be proud about,” he said. “Up there in New England, they’ve been pretty good at sports over the last few years with the Patriots, Red Sox, and now even the Celtics are playing well, so that lobster would sure taste great.”Brooksby residents and staff dressed in their finest Patriots gear all week long, said Public Relations Manager Dani Baldassare. Dining rooms and activity rooms were also decorated in all sorts of Patriots paraphernalia. And, on Game Day, Brooksby restaurants will be serving up a menu of traditional tailgating fan favorites, such as Bruschi’s Chili, Brady Burgers, and Belichick Bratwurst. This isn’t the first time that communities have competed along with their home sports team. Brooksby faced off against communities in Colorado during last year’s World Series game between the Red Sox and the Rockies.”We already won our wager over the World Series,” said Windgardner. “We’ll win again.”
