SALEM – Two Lynn brothers police caught with weapons and drugs earlier this year remain free on bail, after pleading innocent.Junior W. Charles, 28, and Steeven V. Charles, 23, both of 51 Arlington St., entered their pleas of not guilty Friday in Salem Superior Court to carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license and possession of ammunition before Judge David A. Lowy.Steeven Charles also pleaded innocent to other charges of trafficking over 14 grams of cocaine and a felon in possession of a firearm in connection with the case.Lowy agreed to set the same bail as was previously set in Lynn District Court, as jointly recommended by the prosecutor and defense lawyers.Steeven Charles remains free on $25,000 cash while Junior is out on $500 cash pending the outcome of their case.On the night of Feb. 8, around 9 p.m., officers assigned to the Lynn Police Gang Unit were on patrol near Tremont Street when they noticed a vehicle with defective equipment and the driver was a person they believed to have no license.Officers pulled the vehicle over on Summer Street and found a loaded .25 caliber semi-automatic firearm in the vehicle.Neither man had a license to carry firearms.During a pat frisk, police said they found approximately 24 grams of cocaine inside Steeven Charles’ pocket.They are due back in Court on June 27 for a pretrial conference.
